Arlin Sorensen's Thoughts on Scripture

Luke 24 begins on the morning of the third day after Jesus was crucified.  Some women went to the tomb to finish his burial preparation, and when they arrived “they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus”.  It was exactly as Jesus had told them – that on the third day He would rise.  The women were surprised, but two angels tell them “He is not here, but has risen”.  They ran back to tell the disciples what they had seen but “these words seemed to them an idle tale, and  they did not believe them”.  It didn’t seem possible but “Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had…
