Arlin Sorensen's Thoughts on Scripture

Luke 3 tells the story of John the Baptist through the handoff of the spiritual leadership torch to Jesus.  John was born to get the world ready for the Savior.  Scripture tells us “the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the wilderness”.  John was not a conventional religious leader.  Other places in scripture tell us he lived alone and very differently than most.  But God gave Him a very important task to do, the instructions to which were written many years earlier by the prophet Isaiah.

Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.  Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough places shall become level ways, and all flesh shall see the salvation of God”.  John was born to get the world ready…
