Obadiah is a one chapter prophet.  He doesn’t deal with Israel of Judah like most of the old testament prophets do.  Obadiah tells about God’s judgment of Edom.  “Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom”. The Edomites are the people descended from Esau, the son of Isaac and Rebekah and the brother of. Esau was nicknamed “Edom” (which means, “red”) probably because he had red hair. Obadiah receives a word from the Lord that He is bringing nations against Edom in battle.” As a result of the coming battle, God will make Edom small among the nations and greatly despised.

The Edomites were a prideful nation.  “The pride of your heart has deceived you”.  Pride has a way of causing some real issues.  For Edom, they thought they were secure because of their natural defenses, their wise men, and their alliances. They had no fear of…
