Blogging Fundamentals: Day 13

Write of Passage

Easy assignment for Day 13 of Blogging Fundamentals. The directions were to create a logo for the blog that would be used as the identifying icon in my WordPress communications. The purpose of the logo is to create one’s own brand.

For now, I created a logo of sorts by drawing a motif learned from the Zentangle book I used, One Zentangle a Day. It’s just a single Samson pattern that I filled in with two of my favorite colors. With any luck, it will replace the three-year-old photo of me as I blog and comment on posts. Here is what I created.

More than likely, I will change this icon at some point in the near future. For now, however, I will stick to this image, as it represents one of my current interests.

According to the information at WordPress, it takes several hours for the icon…

A Mind Divided

In the continuing effort to make my apartment a spiritual and creative Haven, I’m concentrating on my bedroom this summer.  I fixed up and painted an old dresser when I first moved in.  Now that I have my Dad’s nice chest of drawers, that pretty piece of crap got carted to Goodwill.  I also pruned a ton of esoteric reading from my Past Life, so another falling-apart bookcase will soon go as well.  And the old magazine rack/end tables I used as night stands are also on their way out.

Journals Purged Five Years of Journals

I tossed my spiral notebook journals yesterday.  I had thought I would use some of the pages as art background, but I realized there was too much pain, misery and confusion captured there.  Why would I use something so disheartening in an activity that brings me such joy?

Journaling is a process for me, a way to See the lies…

Blogging Fundamentals: Day 11 – “Nightmare”

Write of Passage

What happened to Day 10? Somewhere, I lost my way. Timely prompt, that: Nightmare. Today’s assignment is to use the inspirational prompt posted on WordPress’ Daily Post page, where you can get inspiration for blogging or writing (usually one word or a phrase), a focus for photography, news about classes, and lots of WordPress news and information.

Today’s prompt is Nightmare. The alternate prompt is Back to the Future. Hmm. Neither resonates with me, but I need to choose one. With my loss of a Blogging Fundamentals day, it seems appropriate to address Nightmare. (The appropriateness only needs to make sense to me.)

Today wasn’t all that different from any other day, but there were little clues that all is not as it should be. First, I awoke at 1:00 PM. None of the pets got me up earlier. Since I am an insomniac, it isn’t unusual for me…

Song of Solomon 4

Arlin Sorensen's Thoughts on Scripture

Song of Solomon 4 is the first intimacy between the maiden and her beloved after their wedding procession and ceremony that ended the prior chapter.  Solomon is quite good at expressing his love for his bride.  “Behold, you are beautiful, my love, behold, you are beautiful”!  Simple words, but showing his affection for his bride.  This sets the example for how we out to treat our wives – Paul writes about it in 1 Corinthians – that every wife has affection due her.  Jesus shows that affection to His bride – the church – in the same way.

He goes on to make a list of things that define her beauty:

  • Your eyes are doves behind your veil
  • Your hair is like a flock of goats leaping down the slopes of Gilead
  • Your teeth are like a flock of shorn ewes that have come up from the washing

What we know about the sale of the Boston Globe’s HQ

Media Nation

Update: I was so excited to get a copy of Sheehan’s announcement in my inbox that I didn’t check to see whether the Globe had the story. They did. Here it is.

The Boston Globe has found a buyer for its headquarters at 135 Morrissey Blvd. The announcement was made in an email to the staff Friday night from Mike Sheehan, chief executive of Boston Globe Media Partners. (Thanks, source! You are a prince or princess among men or women.) Here’s Sheehan:

Just wanted you to know that BGMP has entered into an agreement to sell our headquarters at 135 Morrissey Boulevard. We have also entered into a confidentiality agreement with the buyer, so I can offer no details about the transaction at this time. This is just the beginning of the process; I’ll keep you updated as it proceeds.

Have a great weekend.

I tweeted out the news a little…
